Hello Mighty Survivors!
We missed you so much! We hope everyone is safe and healthy.
What a year 2020 was! Wildfires, hurricanes, pandemic, protests, our tin box... It felt like the only good news was to finally bring Board Royale to your hands. We hope it added a little bit more fun and excitement to your homes throughout the lockdowns. And we hope 2021 will be the year of hope, health, and getting back to normal.
You know that we like to do long and thorough updates explaining every little detail but in this one, we want to keep it short and get back to the reason we are making this update. Since the first days of the deliveries, the reaction to Board Royale has been phenomenal. We are sold out in Canada and in the UK and we are trying our best to move some of our inventories from other countries and we expect to get sold out all around the world very soon, so a huge thank you to all!
First things first, as we approach getting into the second print we need your feedback! As you know we always seek improvement in our games and as the founders of Board Royale, your opinions are greatly important to us. This is why we come to you to ask what to change or improve in the Board Royale for future prints.
Secondly, in the meantime, we were on our discord server discussing the future possible expansions for Board Royale! From the feedback and comments we have received, we have come up with some expansion ideas. Let us know what you think about them and let us know if you have any idea!

Future of Board Royale Survey
Let’s explore the new expansions;
(The examples are based on first drafts and do not reflect final design or wordings)
The Wild Hunt - PvE - So many of you have asked for a collaborative expansion to have some peaceful time once in a while! In the “Wild Hunt” expansion, you and your friends fight against ferocious beasts and survive together. Reveal beasts from the deck, fight them together, gather rewards, and make your way to the end with your friends! A great example of when there are bigger threats than each other, we always come together!
Card Examples:
SWARM - HP 4 / Attack 3 - Can't be attacked with firearms. While crafting, randomly discard 1 extra resource until it dies.
DIRE WOLF ALPHA - HP 17 / Attack 4 - All other creatures deal +1 damage while this creature is in play.
RAPTOR - HP 5 / Attack 3 - When Raptor dies, draw a new creature immediately.
Missions & Traits - A peaceful competition! With this expansion, we are removing elimination from the game! Your goal is to complete secret missions while battling your friends, get rewards and survival points from the missions and be the ultimate survivor. Every trade or deal may be a part of a secret agenda so you need to be persuasive and careful in making deals! Take your traits to become unique in your own survival path like hyped or classy!
Each player draws a Missions & Traits card at the beginning of their turns. If it’s a trait card, they reveal it and get affected by its bonus and penalty. If it’s a Mission card, they hide it and try to secretly complete the quest to get its reward and Survival Points. When a player is killed they come back to the game next round with 7 resources and the attacking player gets one random item as loot. The player that secretly gets 10 Survival Points wins the game!
Card Examples:
MASTER OF PUPPETS (Mission Card) - Goal: Convince an opponent to attack another opponent. Reward: Take the discarded resources of one attack. Survival Point: 2
MARCH OF ENTS (Mission Card) - Goal: Have 6 wood resources at the beginning of your turn. Reward: Discard 3 of them and draw 6 resources from the resource deck. Survival Point: 3
HOMELESS (Trait Card) - Bonus: Your temporary items have a double effect. Penalty: You can not use permanent items
Secret Weapons - More items to come in handy with high and experimental technologies of K.R.A.K.E.N. A plasma cannon, Self Defence Turret, Power Armor, Quantum Transformator, and more! That experiments may harm your enemies... or yourself! Be aware while using such tools and weapons!
This expansion intended to work as a Military Pack v2.0 but with better and more fun weapons. We have great ideas about new items and new power cells mechanic that work like a battery to activate these new experimental tools.
Card Examples:
PLASMA CANNON: Charge with power cell, charge amount 4. Target opponent discards 4 resources for each charge spend or destroy this item and target opponent discards 10 resources.
TURRET: Once you get attacked, it retaliates and the attacking opponent discards 1 resource.
Skills Pack 2 - Not always the militaristic or well-known classes become the best survivors and all kinds of professions have their unique sets of skills to make their way to survival! Skills Pack 2 contains more casual classes to play with fun and unique mechanics.
In this pack, you can become a master of intelligence as a spy to peek into others. A Dealer needs to use skills that are learned from the streets. A Courier is essential to deliver the goods to survive (Inspired by true events of 2020), The call center agent to answer the issues of survival, an Actor to improvise others' moves, a salesman to sell crafted items to become a master of the trade. Or just one selfie and a tweet come in handy if you are the Influencer!
Card Examples:
SALESMAN SKILL - GARAGE SALE - Extend the crafting field with 2 extra items in front of you. If any of those are crafted, you will get 1 extra gold from the resource pile. They can be replaced by democracy.
SPY SKILL - MASTER SPY - Look at the top 4 cards of any deck and rearrange them as you please.
Party & Chill (21+) - Sometimes you want to hit your friends with not an axe but with a moldy sponge. This expansion contains weird and hilarious items that make you laugh, dare each other, and probably get drunk for your own survival(!) and kill your friends in a more relaxed and fun atmosphere!

Card Examples:
IS THIS A LAB EQUIPMENT? - Draw 20 resources to your hand. Craft one item if you can. Hand the remaining resources to your left. This continues until there are no resources left to hand over.
SWIPE RIGHT - Choose a player. Both of you cannot attack each other for the next 2 rounds.

We Made It; All Packs Have Shipped! What is Next? General Sales Begin!

Mighty Survivors,
Today, officially, we have shipped out all of the Kickstarter pledge rewards across the world. We would never imagine this would be such an intense, rewarding, and also challenging process. We thank each and every one of you for being a part of this journey, we hope you enjoyed it. We sure did enjoy every second of it, even though there have been times that the way was bumpy and we felt completely stuck.
We probably chose the worst possible time to start a company, make offshore manufacturing, build a global logistics line, make fulfillments, keep up with taxes, customs, and regulations in 14 countries. We have learned a lot of lessons and there have been so many unfortunate events. But you stood by our side through thick and thin. We can’t express how grateful we are to have such an incredible community. We were able to launch a survival game in 2020, how ironic can it get?
Even though we tried to do our best, we know there are many aspects we could have done better. Please let us know if there is anything you think we could do to improve ourselves. If you have reached out to us through email regarding the problems with your pack, we want you to know that we are working on it, our goal is to reach %100 satisfaction with the pledges.

Tell Us About Your Board Royale Experience!
Since the beginning of our initial deliveries, we are receiving amazing feedback about the gameplay of Board Royale. Our primary goal to begin this journey was to create unforgettable memories through well-designed and well-crafted games. The fact that we are receiving comments like;
“My son woke me up this morning to play Board Royale”is beyond what we could ever dream of.
We are also receiving so many different experiences on Board Royale; while some of the games go incredibly cut-throat and so many interactions, some others go very defensive and slowly build up their ammunition with no negotiation. We are fascinated to hear this feedback as it shows how different each game can be depending on the player personalities, which we wanted to see in Board Royale.
We want to hear from you if you haven’t shared it already. How is your Board Royale experience so far? Was it aggressive and cut-throat or calm and defensive? How did the trading, negotiating, and lobbying go for you and what kind of betrayals have you witnessed? Let us know about your comments and we will continue to improve the Board Royale experience with every feedback.
What is next?
For us, a whole new chapter is starting now.
In our initial survey from the first deliveries, we have seen that over 60% of you would like to join the design and development process with ideas, feedback, or contributions. This team came together to create a truly community-centric game company that collaborates with the community and deeply values ideas that are presented. It is incredible for us to see that this ideal speaks to so many of you. If you are in the camp that wants to try new ideas and explore the possibilities, a very exciting time awaits us.
So many of you have already contributed to the first edition of Board Royale. The names you see on the game board are the people who had major contributions throughout the design and development process of Board Royale. Also, you can see that some cards have a note underneath saying “Crafted by …”, these items created upon the ideas that were sent by the community and we have credited the creators on those cards.
Now we want to take this collaboration to the next level. We will have 2 main goals for Board Royale and we would love to see you join this journey;

Making Board Royale even better; We believe in constant improvement and we may update Board Royale according to the feedback coming from you. We can add more items, new mechanics, play modes to the current base game, and expansions. Write to us your ideas, iterations, and house rules so that we can all try them out. We have included some empty template cards in some expansions so that you can create your own item and add it to the base game directly and test it out.

Designing new expansions; Board Royale is extraordinarily elastic almost any kind of mechanic can be implemented on the main idea. Share with us what kind of mechanics and themes you would like to see in the future versions of Board Royale. We can have these discussions in the #new-expansion-ideas channel in our discord. These new expansions ideas will have their own channels if they get enough love and we can all start designing new items for these ideas.
Our Discord server has reached almost 750 people and when you consider only 3500 Board Royale is delivered, this can be the highest ratio in any board game in the world. If you haven’t already we highly recommend you to join. As always every kind of contribution will be forever credited in the future cards but even if you do not actively contribute, you can simply follow the progressions and show your reaction to the ideas that you love.
Also, our Board Royale community subreddit is also opened now. You can ask questions, share your ideas or experiences there as well. We are looking forward to interacting with you in Reddit.
We believe listening to the community and creating something magnificent together is the best way to create great games.
If you are in the 40% camp that doesn't want to get any spoilers and receive the final products, you will have incredible new expansions and new games that are designed with the ideas and inputs of hundreds of people, so definitely keep an eye on here!

Some Tin Box Issues
We always knew tin boxes are fragile and took every possible precaution to make sure you receive your pack in a picture perfect condition. We were able to deliver every single tin box to the destination warehouses intact and were assured by Amazon that the packages would be shipped with necessary protection, and for most of our shipments the protection was sufficient.
However, unfortunately not every single shipment has arrived to our backers as Amazon assured us. We have received some reports from some of our backers that their packs arrived damaged and/or broken. Even though this was a small portion of the total shipments, it forced us to take dramatic measures since the tin boxes are very limited in quantity, and cannot be replaced with a new box. We have been in touch with Amazon to ensure better protection on the tin boxes and they have agreed to add an extra layer of bubble wrap to the tin boxes before they are shipped out. This has been causing some delays on the delivery of “Survival Edition” pledges in Canada and in the EU.
We are truly sorry that we still keep you waiting for the receival of your pack. However, this issue is important. We worked really hard to create something great and we don't want to risk anything that you supported and waited this long. This is why we ask for a couple of more days of your patience.
For our backers that received their pack damaged/broken, we want you to know that we are here to make this right. Your satisfaction is what’s important for us. You can get in touch with us by writing an email to [email protected] and we will be seeking a solution for you.
Now, let us update you with the latest status of our shipments!
The United States
We are almost done!!
We can gladly and happily say that %90 of US parcels have already shipped and either arrived or about to be delivered soon. The remaining 10% should be shipped towards the end of this week. If you do not receive your tracking code or notification till the end of this week, please let us know, we will make sure your order is on track!
We know that some of your friends want to get their hands on Board Royale or you want to get the expansions if you haven’t already. We are waiting for all of our backers in the US to receive their tracking codes to start the general sale of our items. We are expecting the general sale in the US to start in the first week of September. This first print of Board Royale is very limited in quantity and we want them to stay in the family. This is why you will be the first ones to receive a notification and a discount code redeemable on Amazon for you and your friends. After all, your friends are our friends!
The European Union
If you followed closely what we have been through the Europe shipment you know that it was a bureaucracy challenge for a long time. We tried to keep you updated through direct email. If you haven’t already, drag and drop our emails to the primary category in order to not miss out any important emails from us.
To briefly summarize, we were planning to ship your packs early August. However, we began our journey with our goods getting stuck in the customs and were subject to an investigation. After waiting for some time to get the officers to investigate our shipment, we were cleared by the customs and we were only able to deliver our goods to the warehouse on the 18th of August.
As planned, we have recently started the shipment of our base game so you should be receiving your tracking codes very soon! When it comes to the tin boxes, as mentioned above we are waiting for Amazon warehouses to complete bubble wrapping these items to start shipping them. We are hoping for this process to be completed by the end of this week and start shipping to you right away. We will send you direct emails as we hear more about the status of these packs.
Canada
We have had a similar process in Canada as well. As planned, our base games are being shipped out and we expect all base game orders to be finalized in the following days. However, our tin box shipments had to stop after a small number of shipments as it was not fulfilling our packaging requirements. Currently the tin boxes are getting bubble wrapped and will continue to ship out towards the end of this week.
Asia
Our Asia shipping partner is VFI Asia and they are distributing the packages to local hubs or in some cases directly shipping from China to their final destination. Some of our parcels are delivered and some of them are still on their way. The recent statuses of VFI Asia countries:
Items have shipped to the backers in Argentina, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Lebanon, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Ukraine!
Indonesia will arrive around August 24th.
Philippines has been shipped around August 19th and it will arrive next month.
Israel, South Korea and South Africa will be shipped out at the end of the month.
The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia will be shipped next month.
India, Vietnam and Brunei are still in lockdown.
Australia
Australia shipments have started as well. Very soon you will be receiving your tracking code.
Rest of the World and Collector’s Editions
The rest of the world shipments and Collector’s Editions will ship from Turkey. We are planning to receive the items on Wednesday. There will be a couple of days for preparation and we are planning to make the shipments on Friday.
Website Refresh
In the meantime, we have been working on updating our website to reflect the quality of Board Royale and just launched the new version of our website: boardroyale.com

Localization
We are working on a localization app where you can find the translation of our cards and rulebooks. Thanks to our amazing contributors Joao and Xavier, the Spanish and Portuguese translations are completed. We need your help for the translation to French, German and any other language you would like to see in this app. The card translations are very simple and is a survey in google forms. The rulebooks take a little bit longer and are Google Docs documents. The collaborators can simply add as many translations as they can and work on these collectively.

How to Play Videos Coming Soon
We also shoot new “how to play” videos and we are editing them now. If you have had the chance to play Board Royale already, let us know what rules and mechanics you want to see in these videos that weren't very clear on our rulebook, so that we can give you a short but comprehensive how to play video. We had a blast making these videos, hope you will enjoy them as well.

The Status of Shipments for Each Region! Collector's Edition Sneak Peak!

Hey there mighty survivors,
We hope everything is going great with you all. We are very excited as some of the Board Royale packs have already started to be delivered and the feedback is great so far! We cannot wait for you to receive your pack, so let us inform you with the latest state of each shipment.
EUROPE
We are thrilled to see that the container ship that was carrying our European shipment “CMA CGM ZHENG HE“ has arrived at the Hamburg Port. This week we will be working on the customs of these items and will be preparing the goods to be arrived at the Amazon warehouse in Dortmund.
If there is no issue with the customs and Amazon processes our products without any delays, you should be receiving your packs in early August!
THE UNITED STATES
Our United States shipment “COSCO NETHERLANDS” has also arrived in Los Angeles! However, Amazon directed us to their Dallas, Texas warehouse so we are waiting for the items to arrive there. Then we will clear the customs and send the goods to Amazon for the final shipment. After that point, you should be receiving your tracking codes.
We expect you to receive your pack in the first half of August, time may vary depending on your exact location.
CANADA
We are a little behind on the Canada shipment. The Canadian ship "OOCL MIAMI" has left mainland China a bit late due to the Dragon Boat festival. Furthermore, the ship is still in Australia while it was supposed to arrive in Canada tomorrow. We are watching closely this shipment and Canada deliveries are expected between 2nd and 3rd weeks of August.
ASIA
Unfortunately we learned that we made a mistake on our timeline for the Asia shipment on our previous update and we sincerely apologize for it.
We thought our goods were going to be shipped directly from the VFI warehouse to you using the express shipping, and we used express shipping dates provided by VFI. However, we have learned that custom clearance requires a different shipment model. In this model the goods are bulk shipped to local warehouses in the respective country, clearing the customs and afterwards sending the goods to you using express shipping.
This process added a bulk shipping process that wasn’t planned before thus pushing the delivery dates for some time, but ensuring you to receive your packs without any extra customs costs. These goods are being added to the scheduled bulk shipments that are in place by VFI Asia.
China and Hong Kong have already started to receive their packs. If you are from this region, please check your emails for tracking codes.
For other countries, the bulk shipment dates and the lead times are as follows;
Australia - Estimated to ship 29th July - ETA from shipment date is 21 Days
Indonesia - Estimated to ship 25th July - ETA from shipment date is 45 Days
Israel - Estimated to ship at End of July - ETA from shipment date is 45 Days
Japan - Estimated to ship 13th July - ETA from shipment date is 14 Days
Korea - Estimated to ship sometime in August - ETA from shipment date is 14 Days
Malaysia - Estimated to ship 1st week of August - ETA from shipment date is 21 Days
New Zealand - Estimated to ship 29th July - ETA from shipment date is 21 Days
Philippines - Estimated to ship end of July - ETA from shipment date is 30 Days
Singapore - Estimated to ship 25th July - ETA from shipment date is 21 Days
Thailand - Estimated to ship 18th July - ETA from shipment date is 30 Days
Vietnam, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates will be announced later.
Shipments to Brunei, Chile, India, Mexico and Ukraine are currently suspended with their non-emergency shipments due to the pandemic related lockdowns. We will start shipping these countries as they open up the borders.
Rest of the world
We are waiting for the remaining goods to arrive in Turkey on 15th of August and will be shipped to the world using DHL Express which takes around 2-14 days to arrive anywhere in the world but we cannot give exact dates on these shipments due to the uncertainty on the flight schedules.
Getting the Tracking Codes
We will be sending the tracking codes of your shipment through email. Even though we send a personalized email to everyone, our emails can fall into the ‘Promotions’ section if you are using gmail. In order not to miss the tracking code, we are sending a trial email to you right now! Please check your mailbox and if it is in the promotions page, drag and drop our mail to the primary folder. On the left bottom of the page it will ask you if you want all future emails from this list to be shown in the primary section. By clicking yes on that question you can guarantee to see the email containing your tracking code.
There are other methods like adding our email address to your contacts or marking our emails as important. These solutions should work for other mail providers as well.
Collector’s Edition
Our Collector’s Edition boxes are finally finished and we just picked them up. Here is a sneak peak video of the box (the components are missing). We are absolutely in love with these editions. The box is absolutely huge and built genuinely with very high quality materials.
The cards, boards and other components are sent from China with air shipment and arrived to Turkey last week. Currently we are handling the customs process of these components and will package them all together soon and hoping to ship them out through DHL Express starting next week.
Wounded goods
We have taken every possible precaution to bring the goods to you as perfect as possible and are doing our best to warn our logistics partners to be careful about the packaging and shipping of our goods. However these packs are changing so many hands and we can’t guarantee the service quality of every local delivery company. If you receive your Board Royale damaged in any way, please take detailed photos of the shipping packaging and let us know. You can rest assured that we will make it right for you.

Manufacturing Completed, Shipment to Local Warehouses Starts Soon!

Hey there mighty survivors,
We want to start with condemning any kind of racism, white supremacy, and discrimination towards people because of the color of their skin, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation. We hope that one outcome of the horrifying murder of George Floyd will be the end of systemic and institutionalized racism, violence, brutality, and discrimination towards black people and people of color and bring the long-overdue racial justice.
We want you to know that we are ready to take a part on the progress to create a world without fear, hate, and discrimination. Let us know how you want to see this platform to take action on these crucial social issues by writing us on [email protected] or on our discord server.
Manufacturing: It is finally over!
This is a sharp turn but we have to update you on what’s happening on the production and shipment side. It has been incredibly challenging but finally, the goods are ready to ship. We were hoping to be completed earlier however we had to deal with 3 major issues;
- Tin boxes were received late
We were hoping to receive tin boxes by Mid-May however they only arrived at the very end of May. If you followed the manufacturing process, you know that tin boxes caused so much trouble since the beginning. Thankfully they look absolutely amazing so when you receive them it will be worth the wait.
- Added another layer inside the boxes
In our initial plans, the board and rulebook would be on top of the sides of the plastic tray, however, the tray couldn’t be that high so the board was on top of the cards. We were concerned that it could be an issue in the boxes that have few cards like the base game. This is why we decided to add another cardboard layer that separates the cards from the board to guarantee everybody receives their cards flawless.
- Decided to work with Amazon for final deliveries in the EU, Canada, and the US
This is something we decided a couple of months ago however Amazon requirements brought up some unexpected modifications. Let’s start with why we decided on Amazon. We have had amazing deals with local distributors for every region, however, we have witnessed many lockdowns and stay at home orders issued by governments or states due to the pandemic. This made us concerned about depending on a single warehouse and businesses that specialized only on board games for the fulfillment of Board Royale. This is why we decided to move forward with Amazon as they are way less likely to be shut down in a worst-case scenario and have back up options for warehouses ensuring the deliveries of your packs.
This shouldn’t have been a reason for its own however Amazon didn’t accept our products to be tracked with our manufacturer barcodes and requested their own labels which added some days to our final packaging process.
Finally, all of our products are packaged and ready to ship.
Shipments and delivery
The goods are now getting ready for palleting and we are dealing with the final shipment documents. They will leave from the factory to the forwarder company’s warehouse early next week and the goods will be loaded onto the ships to leave China on the 23rd of June. After leaving the port to be delivered to the local warehouses generally takes between 30-40 days including the customs clearance. Of course, Asia and Australia shipments will not go through such a process.
The goods will ship to 5 different local warehouses and their expected delivery dates and locations are as follows;
- Dallas, Texas, the United States - Amazon Fulfillment Center - Delivery to the US, August 3-7
- Dortmund, Germany - Amazon Fulfillment Center - Delivery to the Eurozone, Including Switzerland and UK, August 3-7
- Bolton, ON, Canada - Amazon Fulfillment Center - Delivery to Canada July 27-31
- Longhai City, Zhangzhou, China - VFI Asia - Delivery to China, Hong Kong, Macao, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, July 10-20
- Istanbul, Turkey - DHL Express - The rest of the world, August 1-15
We hope this will be the last update we have to make to our delivery dates. We are truly sorry for making you wait this long to receive your Board Royale. Hopefully, once you receive your pack, it will worth all the wait.
Collector’s Edition
Last couple of weeks we were fully focused on making this mass production right and couldn’t find time to move forward with the collector’s editions. Starting with this week we will be focusing on the production of the Collector’s Edition. Once we receive our first copy we will post an update about it.
It will be more than double the size of the regular boxes. It will be handmade by a craftsman with very high-quality material, and will have engraved serial numbers out of 500. We cannot wait to share the details when they come along. Also, keep in mind that we will use DHL express worldwide to deliver the Collector’s Edition so you don’t have to worry about your pack being later than the others.
Surveys Are Open
We are receiving many requests regarding address changes, thus decided to open the surveys one last time to make final changes. If your address will be changed by the delivery date please sign in to your BackerKit account and make the necessary changes. It will be open until the 1st of July.
Change Requests
If you have requested to change your tin box with the cardboard box and don't see that reflected on your order on BackerKit, this is normal. Due to our method, we can only process your request after the final lock of the orders. We have sent an email to all of you that requested to change to cardboard that you are on our list and we will process your request afterward. If you requested it but haven't received an email, please reach us one more time through [email protected].
Tracking Your Order
Once your package ships from the local warehouse to your address, you will receive an email with your tracking code.
